Planet Extech at NECA: Introducing the FLIR i7
Review by Home Inspection Toolkit
FLIR i7 Review
Released after the Extech i5, the FLIR i7 infared camera is one step up. The FLIR i7 is a great tool for home inspections. What sets the FLIR i7 apart from the Extech i5 is its 120×120 sensor which for the most part, besides having the FLIR name, only costs an extra $400 from the Extech i5. The FLIR i7’s sensor is better for detecting things like missing insulation or any inspection tasks that require the need to differentiate greater temperate variances.
Opening the FLIR i7 for the first time, you’ll see that it comes with many accessories. This is also true with the Extech i5. Here’s what you’ll find inside the box hard case:
512Mb microSD card
MiniSD adaptor
Li-ion rechargeable battery
AC adaptor / charger
QuickReport™ software
USB cable
Built-in lens protector
Hard Transportation Case
Hand strap
User manual CD in 21 languages

Flir i7 Review from Amazon.com:
I purchased the Flir i7 Infrared Camera as a complement to my Thermacam unit that was getting years on it. I perform thermal imaging reporting across Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio on a regular basis. Building envelope, moisture, mechanical, electrical and specific client applications are addressed. I have found this unit to be excellent in the field ! I now use this camera exclusively on audits with excellent results. Residential and light Commercial assets are easily covered. Mechanical and Electrical assets in manufacturing environments are also no problem, except where excessive high temperature readings are required. The images are clear and crisp, the camera features are great for the price range and the software meets my client's needs. The fixed focus feature is the only drawback, but measures can be taken to offset this limitaton to meet the image demands. All around, I give this item an A+ rating. I am a certified level II thermographer.
